This is a step-by-step guide to install latest Insider Preview version of Windows 10 IoT Core edition.

On my previous post, I’ve showed how to use the Dashboard app to install the latest Release version, but to explore the latest features (like the new remote display) or the latest version of Raspberry Pi (like the Raspberry Pi 3) you’ll need to install the Insider Preview version.

Therefore, we need to move on and see how to install the latest bits.

As always, everything starts from the Windows IoT Developer portal:

From there, move to the “Downloads” page and click the “Get Windows 10 IoT Core Insider Preview” button:

Now select the latest edition and device (I’ve synthesized the two steps on one image) and confirm:

This will download an .iso file to your PC (the name of the file reflect the version you’ve downloaded):

Double click it to mount the image and start the installer:

Once completed, you’ll finally find the “IoTCoreImageHelper” on the “C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft IoT” folder:

Double click on it to launch the program:

Insert the SD card on the reader and select it, browse to select the image (the file is in the FFU folder inside the Microsoft IoT folder) and Flash the SD card.

When completed, you can extract the SD card and proceed as described in the “Install Windows 10 IoT Core on Raspberry Pi 2” post.

Have fun!
